Jewellery with a Saree
A saree already makes a statement, so the jewellery should finish the look, not compete with it. Start with your blouse neckline and the saree's colour, choose one piece to stand out, and keep everything in one finish.
12 saree-friendly pieces from ₹249 to ₹799, in gold-tone and rose-gold-tone finishes. Every piece is lead-free with an anti-tarnish finish and is delivered anywhere in India.
Start with the blouse neckline
- High or boat neck: skip the necklace and let long or drop earrings do the work. A bangle or cuff balances the look.
- Round neck: a necklace that sits just above the neckline, such as a teardrop charm necklace or a double-layer chain.
- Deep or sweetheart neck: a necklace that follows the shape, with smaller earrings so the two don't fight.
Earrings: the easiest way to dress up a saree
Long and cascade earrings frame the face and stay visible even when your hair is open or the pallu covers your shoulder. Drop earrings are lighter for a long evening, and huggies with a hanging charm work for a day function or a puja at home.
Match the jewellery to the saree
- Red and maroon: gold-tone with ruby-colour or emerald-colour stones.
- Green and teal: gold-tone, or emerald-colour stones in the same family.
- Pastels and blush pink: rose-gold-tone or pink stones look soft and fresh.
- White, silver and grey: silver-tone keeps the look cool and modern.
- Heavy zari border: pick the tone of the zari (gold or silver) and keep it the same everywhere.
Silk or chiffon?
Rich silks like Kanjivaram or Banarasi can carry a bolder necklace and long earrings. Light chiffon, georgette and organza sarees look best with finer pieces: a single teardrop pendant, drop earrings and one slim bangle.
One statement, not three
Choose one piece to be the focus: long earrings, a layered necklace or a stack of bangles. If the earrings are long, keep the necklace simple or skip it. This always looks more put-together than wearing every piece at once.
Bangles and cuffs
A pair of bangles or one cuff on the wrist without the watch finishes a saree look. Stacked bangles suit festive days; one slim cuff suits a lunch or an office celebration.
Wear it for a long celebration
- Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and makeup.
- Keep a soft pouch in your clutch for earrings you take off during dinner.
- At the end of the night, wipe each piece with a soft dry cloth and store it separately.
