Anti-Tarnish Artificial Jewellery

What the anti-tarnish finish on our jewellery does, what it can't do, and how to keep your pieces shining for longer.

What is anti-tarnish jewellery?

Artificial jewellery is made from metal alloys with a gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone finish. Over time, air, moisture, sweat and chemicals such as perfume react with the surface and make it dull or dark. This is tarnishing.

Every Aashora piece has an anti-tarnish finish: a protective layer on the surface that slows this reaction down, so the colour and shine last longer with everyday wear. Our pieces are also lead-free and finished with crystal details.

What it can't do

An anti-tarnish finish slows tarnishing; it doesn't stop it forever. It is not the same as solid gold or silver, and it is not waterproof. How long the shine lasts depends on how often you wear a piece and how you look after it. With the simple care below, most of the difference is in your hands.

How to care for anti-tarnish jewellery

  • Put it on last, take it off first. Apply perfume, hairspray, lotion and make-up before you wear your jewellery.
  • Keep it away from water and sweat. Take it off before bathing, swimming, washing hands, cooking and the gym.
  • Wipe it after wearing. Use a soft, dry cloth to remove sweat and oils. Don't use polish, cleaners or anything rough.
  • Store each piece separately. Keep jewellery in a dry pouch or box, away from bathrooms and humid places, so pieces don't scratch each other.
  • If skin is sensitive, try a piece for a short time first.
